All tool training and classes are open to the public. You are not required to be a paying member to attend, however independent use of equipment following safety sign off requires either a monthly paid key membership, associateship, or a day pass. Workshops and Classes are taught by our members, local artists, makers, and educators who are passionate about their craft. Nova Labs has a full suite of tools that include a laser cutter, 3D printers, 4 axis mill, electronics lab, TIG & MIG welders, CNC router, wood lathes, metal lathe, and more! Our Crafters Cove equipment includes sets of tools for jewelry, screen printing, vinyl cutter, 3d Scanning, leatherworking, industrial and embroidery machines, and many more! Event Policies

A sign off class provides basic safety and operational training on, and independent access to, a specific set of tools at Nova Labs. It is not associated with any professional or industry-level certification status, nor is any document issued upon completion.

Non-Members may take sign off or any class at Nova Labs. To gain independent access to our shops and Orange Bay tool areas outside of class time, become a Key Member, Associate, or purchase a day pass during our front desk open hours.

Experienced User and Ad Hoc Sign Offs: If you have prior experience or are an active Key Member, you may be eligible to test out of this training. For more information, please contact

Refund Policy: Full refunds can be provided if you cancel at least 48 hours in advance. You must remove yourself from the class because that is the timestamp used for the refund decision. There is no refund or class credit available if you do not cancel prior to 48 hours before the start of the class. Students must request a refund via

Missed Class Policy: There are no refunds, transfers, make-ups or deferments for missed classes. If you are more than 15 minutes late to a safety sign off class, you may be turned away and marked as a missed class. Safety is a big thing when it comes to dangerous tools.

Safety Dress code: Students may be turned away the safety dress code for the class is not met. There are no refunds, transfers, make-ups or deferments.

Cancellation Policy: Nova Labs reserves the right to cancel any class for any reason. Students enrolled in a class which is canceled will be notified via meetup comments. Students enrolled in a canceled class will be offered a full refund or the class will be rescheduled.

Minimum prerequisites for all tool sign offs: Nova Labs Green Orientation Class, safety dress code compliance

Mandatory Safety (woodshop/Green Way): Wear closed-toed shoes and safety glasses. We can supply safety glasses if needed, but cannot supply shoes. Things that present an "entanglement hazard", like long hair or dangly jewelry should be tied back or removed. Mandatory Safety (metalshop): Please wear long pants, and closed toed shoes. Do not wear rings, watches, or bracelets.

Mandatory Safety (Blacksmithing): There are lots of sparks. So, you MUST wear Non-synthetic clothes, including leather shoes and long pants are a must. Long sleeve shirts are not necessary, but no shorts. Bring your own or borrow our safety glasses. Minors under 16: this is a red tool. Per Nova Labs safty policy, minors under 16 may not take Red Tools sign off classes Minors 16-17: May take the class, but parents must remain in the lab and available in case needed or in an emergency.
