When Nova Labs was looking for a new home on a tight deadline, we searched far and wide, trying to find something we could afford, continue to grow in, and in a location that wasn't so far out that it would disrupt our established community of members. When we found this building, we knew it would take a lot of work, but it checked all the boxes. We loved the opportunity to add a makerspace to the middle of Fairfax, right off 66, and close to George Mason and Northern Virginia Community College. What hadn't expected was the great partner we would find with the City of Fairfax!
Fairfax City Council and Fairfax City Economic Development Authority have both been hugely supportive of our move to the neighborhood. From covering the facade of the building in art, to rennovating the interior, and even helping us financially to get into the building, our relationship with Fairfax City has allowed us to thrive in our new home. As we look to our future, it's clear that this powerful partnership will continue to be pivotal to our success and allow us to reach a larger community through supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, building stronger youth and adult education programs, and providing an amazing facility to continue welcoming makers from across the DMV.
